Although I make my living as a white bass guide and do most of my posting on the Whites-Hybrids-Stripers portion of the TFF, every once in a while, mainly in the winter, I pick up some quality largemouth as a bycatch while working slabs vertically. On the morning of Jan. 9th, I conducted an on-the-water sonar training class on Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir for a client by the name of Chuck Amundson. This is his "graduation photo"!!! PHOTO CAPTION: This largemouth measured 25 inches and hit a white, 3/4 oz. Bladed Hazy Eye Slab. It was hooked cleanly, photographed quickly, and released promptly. PHOTO CAPTION: Find Bladed Hazy Eye Slabs here: Bladed Hazy Eye Slabs ... This is the same slab which caught these other nice Stillhouse black bass for me and my clients during this same winter season in recent years past:

Stillhouse is one of my favorite lakes to fish. Ultra clear water, tons of hydrilla and cover, and there's always a 13~ pounder caught there every year it seems like

Nice fish & ! Did you weigh that Stillhouse largemouth? T Bird, no, I did not weigh this one. When I do my sonar training sessions, they take place on the client's vessel. Normally, I have 2 certified scales on my own boat just in case I have a guided fishing trip client land a potential catch and release record. Beyond that, I like to get bass taken from water over ~20' deep back in the water ASAP to avoid any barotrauma issues. So, we let the measuring board suffice. Good to hear from you! --Bob Maindelle
