Hey y'all
So I was born and raised in North Texas and grew up fishing all the stock ponds back in the 80s as a kid right before they flooded them out building Joe Pool ( hate that off shore structure lake lol). I left Texas in 1991 and moved to Northern California when I was 19yo. I lived 5 min from the California Delta and this is where I caught the Bass Fishing Bug. I spent the next 25 years fishing the armature bass fishing tournament scene. From the Delta to clear resivors like Oroville, folsom, Clear Lake, Berryessa, etc. . I can catch em out there . I moved back home here to Dallas 3 years ago and I have fished Joe Pool, Grapevine and recently found Lake Alverado ( love that little lake) However I'm trying to figure out the spawn here. We have clear water lakes I've caught bed fish in 10' of water, our spawn for the most part started the first full moon in March typically. Nor Cal weather is pretty stable but as for Texas lakes are all dirty and the weather changes so much. One day the water temp could be 58 then the next it's 64. I wouldn't say I'm a pro by no means but I'm definitely not an armature bass start spawning when the water hits 60 to 62 degrees.
How in the heck can yall peg that temp and do the bass just move off if a cold front comes thru amd knocks the water trmp back down? What month do they start moving up? Pre spawn start? Post spawn? My tournament days are over I fish for fun now I release all I catch. My PB is almost 11.6 lbs looking for that 12 lb or bigger and would like to have a successful spawn fishing experience this year. I have a Ranger 397vs now sold the Champions. So again I just fish for fun these days and trying to figure out the spawn.
Also do the bass on Joe Pool ever move up ? Lol
Thanks yall!

I really appreciate the compliments and comments.
I tell this to anyone who will listen.
Log your trips every time you go and patterns will jump off the paper at you.
Water Temp,Barometric Pressure,Wind, Water Clarity, how deep you caught them and what colors worked.
Actually the fishes habits come to life and then you know more about him.
Fish don't have a calendar.... their movements have a lot to do with water temperature and oxygen levels and wind.
Nothing beats time on the water.
Never say Never ..... Fish will be fish and sometimes be in a foot or two of water when over 100 degrees or under 45 degrees.

I fish pool pretty regular and sometimes the bass are hard to figure out. Some years I’ve caught them in coves in April where they would spawn in 2-5 ‘. Other times they move up as early as February. It seems lake level has a lot to do with it. You can pm me and I can fill you in what worked last year.
