Probably because the bass fishing is terrible. Giant muddle.

It was great 20-25 years ago. Then the Metroplex happened in terms of sucking it mostly dry and it was turned into a low water, poor water quality mudhole.

Lots of big fish in it back in the day when I was at school in Commerce! We would fish it more than Fork there for a while!

When Dallas sucks it down to 14 ft low and then two months later it's 8 ft high it really screws up fishing.

I would drive right over Fork all day every day to get to Cooper from about 1999-2002. Some of the Fork guides were taking their clients there as well.

For those above that like to bash Dallas, please understand that the North Texas Municipal Water District along with the City of Irving created the lake. 10 cities, Farmersville, Forney, Garland, McKinney, Mesquite, Plano, Princeton, Rockwall, Royse City and Wylie were the original NTMWD cities. Afterward, Richardso, Allen, and Frisco have become members.

Dallas does not get any water from the lake.

The lake became a mud hole due to the actions of The Corps of Engineers mismanagement. They would lower the lake level every fall in anticipation of late winter and spring rains killing the hydrilla that was established. Exposing the shoreline to erosion from wind. When it rained more erosion occurred and the resulting muddy water and rising water levelruined the bass spawns for years.

Everyone hates water municipalities. Everyone loves flushing their toilet.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. The water was pumped to other lakes during the summer. Corp has never lowered water level on Cooper
