Alright. I've decided it's time to get some electronics added to my boat. I run a 2014 Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 with a 60 Mercury on the back and it initially didn't really come with any electronics.

First off, is a smaller aluminum boat like this capable of running FFS? Before anything I want to make sure I'd have plenty of room to install a mount, screen, and the transducer.

Secondly, what brand of electronics do y'all run? I've heard Garmin is on its 2nd generation of technology while Humminbird/Lowrance is still on its first. Does it really matter?

Lastly, have y'all installed them yourself or do you recommend taking it to a marine shop?

I'm new to the world of using electronics to fish so any other tips y'all have would be greatly helpful. I appreciate y'alls help in advance!

FFS works on any size boat, the owner of Shut Up and Fish switches his between his larger boat and his kayak. He is also who I would have install it.

Get spot lock, then electronics. When I upgraded I picked up a helix 12 si+, I installed an additional connector for the helix on the front to connect to the trolling motor. Used a ram D mount, and I can swap the unit from the console to the front in about 40 seconds. My TM has a built in transducer so it works on both ends. Might save you some $. FFS will work on anything, I put it on my canoe for a creek excursion and it worked like a charm. I spent double what my boat/motor is worth in TM and electronics in the last 3 years. Helix 12, 360, ultrex, and Garmin 1222 with LiveScope. Crazy to think about the cost, but I'm not buying another boat.

I've got a Fortrex trolling motor I put on earlier this year. Honestly regret not spending the money for an Ultrex and spot lock but marine shop guy talked me out of it ... confused 3

I've gotten pretty good at using my foot and fishing at the same time but do you think its worth selling the Fortrex and upgrading?

Make sure to run a min of 8 gauge dedicated wiring for your electronics. Inadequate power makes good electronics look like poo
