Well...This was the final trip if 2022...it's officially in the books. Got to the lake at 8am and realized EVERYONE was there...and... I was LATE ! The 1st spot had 26 boats & kayaks already pounding it, so headed for the trees. Fished for bass most of the day & the bite was real slow for me. The water temp was 59 degrees where I started & 64 degrees along the dam. The north wind was a little stronger than forecast...but what's new about that. violinToward the end of the day I got a wild hair & decided to drop a Gulp Alive on the ultra lite just for the heck of it & sure enough found a pod of real nice Bluegill & catfish. Ended up with around 20 Gils & 3 catfish out of that spot...as you can see from the Garmin, it was around 17 feet deep there. Fishing for Gils in the winter is totally different than the summer. You have to fish so slow & they dont really attack it like in the summer...you just feel a kind of dead weight until you start to reel...then they fight. Only got a dozen bass all day with the biggest being 4.06 lbs. Me & Doc were supposed to go today but Doc is having trouble getting his ducks in order...maybe next week. yes

Hey Vogey, What are you doing for the bass? My wife wants to go to Fayette and get a few hours on our boat. Is there any grass left after the netters tearing it all up. In the old days we would fish the edges of the grass 8-13' with water dogs and catch some nice ones down that shoreline out from Oak Thicket to the point and the Cool Water Intake. Any suggestions would help!

Thanks Leo & Chuck

Wug...Boy...those were the "old days". I drowned many a water dog in days gone by smile The 2 spots you mentioned are still good, but the bite can be fickle, especially this time of year as the water temp fluctuates so drastically with the weather changes. I have pretty much modified the way I fish over the past few years partly because of age & partly because of what I have learned. I go spinning tackle with 8-12 lb test and finesse fish with either Ned Rigs or swimbaits. The cast netters do demolish a good portion of the shallow areas, but hydrilla did have a little comeback this past year in some areas (like the ramp to nowhere). For more detailed information I would suggest you go to you tube and pull up the videos put out there the past 2 years...you can learn a ton that way from those that are sharing on that medium...

I can only imagine the throttling that lake took last week.
