Fished Squaw Creek today 12/29 and lots of dead fish from mid-lake to the south end.

Dead Shad, Tilapia and a few Catfish. Did not see any dead Bass and caught a few but nothing like a typical day on that lake.

Water temps were 72-78 degrees in those areas.

The weather was great yesterday but the air was a bit “ripe” in several areas.
Did see a couple of guys standing in the water next to their boat up against the bank cleaning their fresh catch in that water - ugh! barf

They do that so they won’t get busted netting bass and catfish. They pull up on the bank, clean all the game fish species they aren’t supposed to have… put them on the bottom of the cooler, then ice, then they throw talapia on top of that. Supposedly you get removed from the park and black listed if you get out of the boat and in the water anywhere other than the boat ramp area.

Pretty common after these bad fronts like last week. Some fish can’t handle a water temp shock

If it is mainly tilapia its probably because the water temps may have dropped some and they dont or won't live in cold water is what I'm told.

Tilapia are a tropical fish and won't survive in water temps below mid 50 ish, shad die off in cold temps as well, this happens every year.
