Does anyone else have this rod and reel combo? I have one and anytime you fish with it the line begins to fray almost instantly. I have inspected the guides and wormgear area but there are no bad spots on those. (that I could see anyway) I had another one before (until my fishing partner chucked it into the lake.) and it worked like a dream and caught a lot of good fish. I was just curious if anyone els has had this issue. Thanks in advance.

It probably has a small nick somewhere in one of the eyes . Take a xacto knife and check the eye that way .

I dont know anything about that brand, but it's probably a guide on the rod. Take a Q-tip to the eyes on the rod and see if there are any burrs.

I would guess an eyelet is fractured. They get pretty sharp.
As to the combo, I think those are the heaviest rods I have picked up. Not a favorite man

I've had a rod that had a small crack in one of the ceramic guides that was doing this. You couldn't tell it was there until I found it. You really had to look at it close to see it. The Q tip will tell the tale.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I found that there was a small nick inside of the reel's line guide. Got it returned for a new combo and now it's all good!
