Help me out guys.

What’s going on with Fork in 2023? Heard there may be more dam work and more lowering of the water level, but can’t find details anywhere.

I also have family coming in for a Spring trip. Planning to avoid big tourneys and read the Lake Fork Classic is on 4/22, but looked like it mentioned something of O H Ivey. I’m confused!

Unless it comes from the Sabine River Authority, don't believe anything about more dam work or lowering the water level. There are a few out there that like to stir the pot when it comes to the water levels on Fork. Know this, it is rising (slowly but surely) with these rains we have been getting. SRA did do additional work recently, but they have not announced anything about keeping the lake low or otherwise artificially impacting the rise.

I'll prolly end up breaking the state record out there with an 18.19lb bass in 2023 but that's about the only news coming out of Fork that I've heard about.

Any idea why the Lake Fork Classic is showing 4/22 but saying it’s at O H Ivie?

Help me out, what is the "Lake Fork Classic?" If you are talking about this tournament - according to my buddy, they moved to OH Ivie last year because of the expected water levels on Fork. I haven't seen anything scheduled for 2023 on Bass Tournament Finder, Facebook, or their website.

Yep, exactly what I’m talking about.

Wondering why they would move the “Lake Fork” classic to a different lake unless something was wrong with Fork or there were plans for more dam work/lower water levels.

Seems a bit much to move it if everything was fine and filling back up with rains.

Only time will tell, Fork could use a few years at record low levels to get it to the "new lake effect" in the future.

Also the miles of seawalls and property owners who get the grass sprayed are not really helping the fishing.

Destroying habitat is counter productive.

Lake needs submergent vegetation (hydrilla)

When it comes up all that new brush/grass/weeds
Along the shore will die in short order and you are back
To where we were

If it's low long enough the soil will become rich with nutrients and a good chance of some submergent vegetation returning. If the property owners do not have the area spayed again, if so then it's forever doomed to what it is now.

This tournament was last April (2022) when the lake was low and they were going to lower it even more. There were a few tournaments that relocated due to this.

Don't think they have announced the 2023 date yet.

When you guys at Fork see those homeowners with 1 wake boat and 2 jet skis in the cradles walking around their docks spinkling something into the water that looks like it's coming from a drain-o can, just go to the other side of the lake to fish. That's herbicide, prolly the same stuff that the boat slip owners at joe Pool were using at both marinas.

From my understanding all work on the dam has been done and completed from one end to the other.

Should be a good year for growth in bass population if we can get the fry from the spawn in the flooded grass if the water level continues to rise.
