There was a big boat slip at home where I grew up around Monroe, Louisiana on the Ouachita River that wasn't covered and usually full of house boats. My dad was a fireman when I was young for the city of West Monroe. When they'd get a call for a house boat on fire; both departments would respond, they'd get close enough to get tied on to it and drag it out in the river and just watch it until it burned completely up; by the time they got to it the moorings were already burned off anyway. They had a fire fighting boat just for this but with them being mostly fiberglass it was futal to try and put them out, their main objective was to stop the chain reaction. They were parallel parked as well and had more spacing so they were less likely to burn other boats, mainly just the dock itsself would get damaged. That's the deal with the boat slip designs for Texas lakes, They are fire traps. Hopefully nobody got injured or worse. Prayers up!

Idiots using space heaters in the bilge of boats when we have freezing weather. I have a friend that had a slip in that dock that burned friday night. Luckily he had pulled his boat out for the winter.

They were all different times of year. The Highport incident was maintenance and spider-related. The Mill Creek was some kind of other accident with explosion and injuries.

Some of the boats my dad helped put out dad referred to as friction fires. Friction between the loan payment and the insurance policy, arson. They could usually tell if an accelerant was used to start the fire. The ones they'd see this with usually had damage and flame structure that appeared to have the boat burning simultaneously from end to end. I don't think you'd see this in these boats being burned in this way simply because the chain reaction that happens would quickly overwhelm what an insurance policy would pay. Just folks and unfortunate circumstances. Looking at this leaves me wondering what the persons that owned the boat where the fires started will be responsible for as far as liability for the other boats damaged and the dock as well.
