What is the correct way to check fluid level in a Yamaha Hpdi, is it with the motor trimmed all the way down and fill to fluid flows out ? thanks

I use Pennzoil tilt and trim fluid in a tube from academy. I'm sure at the time I searched what proper stuff to use, and that was the most accessible and cheapest. Been 5+ years in the unit.

Not unless you want a bath in hyd. fluid. Motor needs to be in the full up tilt position. Fill to the top of the reservoir hole.

I lower the jack all the way down. Then trim the motor all the way up and flip the stands down to keep the motor from falling down. Carefully remove the cap and o ring and fill it up. If the level has gone down you are probably needing seals replaced. I would do that first so you do t get stranded.
