Well although the weather can be a little tricky this time of the year, we are having some great outings. Lots of speckled trout and red fish on most trips. We are even catching a few drum and sheepheads on some outings. Right before the fronts and especially in between the fronts is when we have been doing the best. Of course the better the weather, the better the fishing. I have been fishing the northern end of our bay system from the Clear Lake area to Burnett Bay. I have been using live shrimp under a cork for the best results. The water temp was in the mid 70's when I starting fishing up north over 2 months ago. It has dropped down to 58 but now it is around 62-65. We will continue to fish this area until the end of Feb. Fishing is traditionally great this time of the year and only gets better in the north end of the bay system as it gets colder. I will head back to lower Galveston and West bay once spring approaches and the fish start a new migration. They will show up around Galveston Island in abundance once the weather and water starts to warm up. Until next time, I will see you on the water.
