Any of you fish the Brazos River in a bass boat? I was looking at the area below the Lake Granbury dam. Any pointers for other areas on the Brazos with good lake access are appreciated. Thanks.

You can't launch or navigate in a bass boat below the Granbury dam until you get closer to lake Whitney...

We used to water ski up above tin-top road between Granbury and PK, but navigation ends up there at some point as well.

Have put in at Kimball Bend just above Lake Whitney. The Nolan River is close by also.

Kimball Bend is closed due to new bridge being built.

Canoe, kayak, johnboat…..? You can put in anywhere you have access to someone’s PRIVATE riverfront property. Pecan Plantation property owners have river access below Granbury dam. Bass boat? The closest public boat ramp BELOW Granbury dam is going to be Hams Creek which is actually the far upper end of Lake Whitney (dozens of miles below Granbury) and from there you can only go a few miles upstream(towards Granbury) before the river is to small for “bass boat travel”.

Agree with Hamm Creek. It is actually right about where the river meets Lake Whitney. There is a little current under normal conditions.
Depend on the Whitney lake level. Hamm Creek was rebuilt and is now a Pay-to-Launch Corps Park. It is nice, and probably worth the $, but if the lake is way low, the ramps come out of the water. If it's way high .... the park is flooded.

Fished it MANY times out of a Bass Tracker w/50 evinrude. From Hamm Creek you can go up river about 6 miles until you get to The Island, then the water gets a little thin. I've done it in a bass boat too, but you need to watch for sandbars that move around every year, logs and snags.

It WILL GET BUSY during the spring sandbass run. There used to be a guy that leased camper spaces along a stretch where they did a lot of skiing. That seems to have died down some. I think the lease owner got tired of it.

You just have to watch the conditions. No rain (no flow) no sandbass run. Too much rain and it floods.

If conditions are settled, there is some pretty good bass fishing there too. Fish the transitions from mud bank to rocks. Lots of places to poke around and have fun.
