Get a couple of boxed of baking soda to pour on the acid. This will neutralize it then you can rinse it out.

Suggestion. Always keep around an old orange juice jug that has about a half cup of Baking Soda in tap water. Any time you're exposed to sulfuric acid. Pour the mix on the offending spot. Don't rinse. Leave it wet until it dries. What happens is a white powered film coating. Consider the jug a safety device. Keep the jug full. Store it to where you can always find it quick... If by a horrible chance. You get any droplets of acid on your skin or eyes. Pour the baking soda mix on it. Into your eyes. It also works with other acids. Muratic acid being another. Here's mine,

Put your charger on a timer set to however many hours it takes to charge your battery's. Don't trust auto battery chargers that are supposed to shut off. I learned that the hard way.

Wear rubber gloves and long sleeve shirt when cleaning it up. Might want a little eye protection as well. Just go slow and steady. Wash the clothes you wore to clean it up separate from other clothes.

I had a battery do that years ago due to a faulty charger. Luckly my wife was walking by the boat when it first happened, and she told me she heard a faint "POP". I went out and looked and found the battery had split open.
Like everyone said lots of baking soda. I rinsed it out after the baking soda stopped bubbling and wore some heavy rubber gloves and eye protection when I took the battery out. I did get a little acid on my jeans, so they were toast.
Replaced the charger after that/

Well that was fun
Went through 6 boxes of baking soda but I think I got it all out
Will have to wait until tomorrow to see what clothing will show the effects.
Good idea grass hopper will do
Rube I just ordered a timer off of Amazon
I donโt want to ever do that again!
Thanks for all the good direction guys ๐๐

Probably an internal short in the battery between the negative and the positive.. it will low the top off one. Bad if you are looking at it at the time. Could be the charger or the charger could have nothing. To do with it. After the baking soda I would run water in the area a long time. That acid got on everything. You donโt want corrosion issues going forward.

You were lucky. A guy I know bought a new Ranger and after the maiden voyage he put it in storage next to my boat he plugged the built-in charger in and left it. The dealership (to remain unnamed) wired the charger wrong and it caught on fire and totally destroyed his boat.
My boat was in the stall next to it. Walls went almost up to ceiling but the space between walls & ceiling let smoke & ash get into other nearby stalls. My boat had 3 inches of black ash over the entire rig. Looked like snow but not. What a mess.

any auto parts, wally world, get a couple of cans of this and when you think you have it all out spray all surfaces that may have had acid on them. it will turn red if any is left and cleans it up, rinse out after.
