Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to decide upon a Live Scope Mount for my boat. Does anyone have experience (Used) the SeaLite Live scope Mount?

I need to clear a gunnel (about 6 inches) in order to mount to my deck where I can get nuts on the mounting bolts. I can't get under the gunnel so I can't mount up on it.

If you have a SeaLite Mount I would appreciate your opinion about how it works---pros and cons, etc.

1. How study is it (both when deployed and when under way on the water and on the road)?

2. How easy / smooth is it to deploy and retrieve (how many set screw adjustments are needed?

3. How fast (what speed) can one go when it is deployed into the water ie. trolling or moving from place to place?

If you have experience with some other mount that you think works better / good I would greatly appreciate your advice.

I'm hesitate to spend $300 on something I haven't seen and there isn't a local dealer where I can see a SeaLite installed.

Thanks for any suggestions and advice you can help me with.

Have you looked into The Poleducer transducer mounting system? Best cable management on the market. Easy to use throughout your time on the water.

You can also purchase the Poleducer w/out mount and go on-line and purchase any bench bike rack mount and it will work well with our system. We are currently out of stock on our Conquer mount and have many customers purchasing our system w/out mount and finding there own bike rack mount. See link below for the variety of bike mounts which all work with the Poleducer.

I have a Seelite 2.0 mount. In short, I don't like it but I'm stuck with it for a while. Answers to your numerical questions below:

1) It's fairly sturdy. I transports ok and is decent in the water (once you get it there)

2) I hate how it deploys and retrieves. It has a loosening mechanism that you have to loosen to deploy and tighten to keep it sturdy in the water. You do the reverse when you retrieve it. I constantly seem to have retighten the mechanism often which is frustrating

3) When I'm moving I basically have to always hold the handle on the mount or it will slam against the boat due to the resistance.

The worst thing about it is that the handle has way too much play in it and therefore you aren't always sure if you're pointing toward the transducer.

I can't recommend the seelite. I'd go with David's Poleducer (above) or another solution.

Check out Beatdown outdoors breakaway transducer livescope pole.
Expensive, but very well built!

I have a mount from Dub-L-Seat and am happy with it. It mounts to your TM so it deploys and stows at the same time. Very well built in my opinion. They have a few different mounting options depending on your TM, including a universal mount. This is the only one I have experience with, so I cant say if it is any better or worse than others. Here are a couple of pics of mine both stowed an in use.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I'll check out the suggestions you have made. For sure sounds like I don't want the SeaLite Mount. I had a guide friend of mine say he had a recent customer who had one and the customer and he too hated it.

I have a PVC system right now that came on my set up when I bought the boat. It works, but as a friend told me "it's pretty getto". Not very user friendly for deploying and storing.

Thanks again,

cliffshot

I have a PVC pole mount on my boat and while it doesn't look the best, it works for me and I do not have to cough up 200 plus dollars for the ones you have to buy

Moose. How much of a difference has the heading sensor made in the troller's ability to lock up tight ?

My Ultrex came with it so I have no experience to compare for a difference. However from what I understand, without the heading sensor you cannot use the "jog" feature during spot-lock, which is the game changer for me. Especially when vertical jigging.

The greatest thing I have found so far to improve the wandering or searching the TM does during spot-lock is learning to use the boat scale setting. Many folks simply set it and forget it. I have found that adjusting it on the fly depending on the wind is very useful. The windier the conditions I will set the boat scale up at a +1 or +2. If the wind is pretty calm I will set it down to -1 or -2. The higher the setting, the more aggressive the TM reacts to adjustments which can be very aggravating in calm conditions.

Very Similar to the one I built out of PVC also. Went with the Long arm D sized ram mount to get over the gunnel on my skeeter. Works like a charm!

I built my own portable pole mount that I haven't seen anywhere else before. It clamps onto the side of the boat so I can move it around when others come fish with me so everyone can be behind the transducer pole.
Also, please don't laugh at the state of my boat's appearance LOL. She catches a lot of fish for me!
