Is it legal (per the state of Texas) to fish inside the orange buoys at the Monticello dam? There is a faded sign that says No Boat and No Fishing. Thanks in advance for the input.

I'm not sure if they are still enforcing it since the Monticello plant closed but before when it was open the game warden did enforce it.
Maybe someone else has more recent information.

I don't think they can right your lure a ticket if it inside the buoys. IMO
Just don't get the boat on the other side of the buoys.
For many years myself and others would fish the swimming areas on certain lakes and just stay beyond the buoys.
Course there we no swimmers nor did we ever catch a swimmer. LOL

Back in the day, we used to hang near (but outside) the buoys on Monticello (back when they were generating) and caught quite a few bass casting over the buoys. Lost a few lures too since we could not go past the buoys to get a hung lure.

Seems like there was a period of time on the left side facing the outflow that the position of the left buoy would allow you to snuggle back up against the fence and cast over the fence … when a fish was hooked on that side it usually did not end too well. But we all know that no matter what side you are on, the bass are always bigger on the other side of the buoys.

Don't let heath catch you inside the buoys, you'll leave with a small piece of paper and a number to call to get a court date. You can be outside the buoys and cast beyond them.
