Good morning folks

Just a simple question...

What kind of Yearly/ Quarterly maintenance upkeep would you do on a older motor?

I try and fish 2 weekends a month.

I like to keep my lower unit oil changed twice a year, so not so much quarterly. Another thing is though is pulling the prop off and checking for fishing line and clean off the prop shaft good and re-grease it good.

Then I like to spray some bleach in my livewells and/or baitwells and get them all cleaned up good. Looking over your battery terminals and physically checking to make sure each is not only clean and free from corrosion but also snug and tight.

Then it's a good rule of thumb to check your Transom bolts to be snug and tight. Your steering has things to make sure are good, depending on what type of steering you have. There are a few Grease zerts you should hit with a little Grease also. Then never hurts to wipe the boat down with a good wax, if dealing with a fiberglass rig. These are a few things I like to keep up with

That motor has O2 sensors that get dirty. When the motor starts running a little rough at idle, remove them and clean them up. This is one of the best motors ever made in my opinion

This and keep an eye on the lift pumps. They seem to spring leaks every 2-3 years.
