Does anyone know what's the latest software release number for the HDS Carbon and Live? If I'm not current and behind 2 or more releases can I just update to the latest one or do I need to upload each previous update?
Sorry for the "newbie" questions but unfortunately that's what I am with these HDS units

Here is a link to the current HDS Carbon and Live software update. There is a through explanation of what is included and it does not appear that you will need to upgrade to a previous version before installing this one.

22.1.1 is the latest for HDS Lives and Carbons

Never have downloaded an update on my Carbon, and yes i get the hang up on initial boot up. Also I bought the unit used, and not sure if its registered or not. Can i still get it updated?

Thanks Larry. It turns out the Live unit I bought during Black Friday deals at Bass Pro had the latest software. I finally got the Carbon unit I bought last year to connect to my home WiFi and it automatically asked if I wanted to upgrade software. When it finished it had installed the 22.1.1 update.
Looks like I'm up to date for now.

I just updated my Carbon unit and I was not asked to enter a registration ID. You should give it a try and see what happens.

Well that was easy as could be.
As soon as it connected it asked to update. Took all of 7-8 minutes to complete and reboot.
So far seems to have fixed the hang up during powering up.

Guess I need to see what the current HDS Gen 3 is and try it for my other 12” unit. If you want the gen3 to work with the Carbon, you do need the latest update. I don’t think it has wifi updating, but I might be wrong. Seems like the Carbon might be the first one to do that or I’m crazy and wrong.

The Carbon does wifi, and the Gen 3 will have to be a card update.
