Hey Everyone, I'm trying my hand at making some videos and wanted to share with everyone here.

I made this video for two reasons:

I couldn't find a video format that felt just right when I was trying to decide if I wanted to purchase LiveScope.

The other reason is that my dad is in a nursing facility as he can't get out any more but he still REALLY wants to see/understand how in the world I'm managing to catch so many fish LOL.

I learned a TON from this site and have become a fish-a-holic so I enjoy it here because you guys have similar lakes/weather as I do in North Louisiana but I do not want to break any rules.

Great vid! Glad you left in the parts showing it is not as easy as it looks on some vids. Add little more wind to the equation and it gets even harder. Totally, agree on there is way more going on down there than I ever imaged. One other thing I have learned with LS, do I really need side imaging any more. I do like you mentioned, slowly move around finding cover I never knew was there. If your lake has plenty of cover, then you may only crank the big motor a couple times all day.

I'm mesmerized you can get that close to crappie on D'arbonne and they bite!!

I guess I need to go there sometime when there's not 100-150 boats beating it to death for a week straight! It's a fun lake. We've had pretty good luck there!

Thanks a ton everybody, glad you all liked it. Can't wait to show my dad and a few of his buddies at the nursing place. They were all the springtime-only crappie fisherman and have a ton of questions when I go up there so looking forward to putting this up on his TV while we visit.

CoachTod - Exactly like you said! I only crank my motor twice a day when I go to Darbonne now because most of the lake is a sunken forest so you can just ease around from spot to spot.....which is a good thing since I need a screwdriver to prime the motor LOL. And I haven't even brought my side-scan sonar on the boat the last few trips because I don't use it out there. Now when it gets colder and I go out to the more open reservoirs or some of the bayous/rivers I'll probably be using it a bit again then.

Slewfoot - Those crappie on Darbonne are crazy-skittish! For whatever reason I was able to get closer this day than I normally can (thankfully). Man I just about don't go to Darbonne at all during the spring or the busy weekends because of the boat traffic on the channels being so crazy. If I do go during the popular weeks then I'll go at night and use those glow jigs.

Appreciate the video tremendously, I grew up not to far from D'arbonne Lake and fished it as much as two or three times a week in the 80's into the early 90's mainly for largemouth bass. It was a tough lake to fish in those days because of the draw downs. I would have given anything to have this technology back then.
My dad and I fished Caney a lot for crappie back then because my parents had a camp on Caney. We were actually able to do something similar to what you are doing with 2D LCR sonar; it was just more of a vertical thing. It didn't have the flow that livescope does, it was more like watching sequenced photos, but we caught tons of fish. We had a spot where we could tie up to a stump with my bass boat so that gave us the ability to set still and not spook the fish.
I live out near Lake Fork now and fish it regularly. I had stopped fishing for a little over a decade to raise a family and just started back about 3 years ago. My first boat was a jon boat with a trolling motor and a Lowrance 4X Hook 2 fish finder and on lakes where I used it and have also been in my bass boat I noticed a huge diffrence in the number of fish I'm seeing. It's like they are affraid of the bass boat but the jon boat with the added stealth I was seeing tons of fish and catching more. It was really noticable on Lake Fork. I really couldn't tell you what I was seeing; just know it was a lot of fish, figure most were probably largemouth bass, sand bass, and crappie

Caney has some HUGE bass! I talked to a tournament fisherman here a few weeks back that caught an 11 lb fish out of there last February. Darbonne STILL does the drawdowns every four years! There's some pressure to change it to at least five or six but I'm not sure if that will be successful or not. The new regulation change to only keeping seven fish over 12 inches is new though so maybe they'll be doing more to keep the fish population healthy and large.

Before this year I did the same thing with a small chirp sonar unit on my trolling motor and I'd use that to figure out where the fish were and use jigs/minnows vertically all around where I'd spot them. Sometimes the unit would even see a false-bottom when the fish got in dense schools in the deep water in the winter time. Caught LOTS that way over the last few years!
