We just put new board a batten siding on our house . Going to hire grandson to help me caulk the house . There is a lot that needs to be caulked.
Are the battery powered caulk guns worth the money .
I thought once I got done I would sell it for half price if I could .

Milwaukee would be my choice. They had it for $129 on some sites on Black Friday with a $400 list. They sold out fast.

I got dewalt cordless tools and you can buy the caulk gun cheaper by not buying the battery and charger .

I have never found the squeezing the handle to be the problem, my raw finger from smoothing the caulk is what gets me!

Yeah no doubt. Stay on the same battery platform if you have multiple tools and buy the tool only specials.

Not sure I see how this really saves you any time or much effort. Then again, I've never used a powered one. You can lay down an 8 ft bead in about 5 seconds with a manual gun and some experience.

On a related note, I would invest in a caulking tool to smooth the bead after you lay it down. Otherwise, you'll wear the skin off your fingers after while.

Keep your caulk warm.

Also, make damned sure you get caulk guns that are dripless. Caulk stops when you release the handle.

and, cut the tip about 3/4" down on about a 30* angle then cut off about 1/4" of the tip, slow steady squeeze on the handle. buy a tube or 2 of the cheapest latex caulk and practice on something. you can lay down a bead that barely needs wiping and a whole lot less waste/mess. getting the angle down is key.

you sound like you know a lot about caulking and different caulks. Do you play with them a lot?

Constantly, its almost a hobby.

I caulked every inch of siding, windows, doors, whatever. 8,000 feet of siding, not once did I wish for a battery caulk gun. If you get decent at it, not sure how you could control it as well with a motor driving it.
