When i go surf casting i always bring some type of nylon bait thread (yeah, i know i sound like a commercial). This way on the cast i'll usually out-distance my friends as my bait doesn't rip off the hook from the throw. This means my offerings are further out from shore! When there's bait stealers nibbling (ie small crabs to fish) it'll take longer for the bait to get totally devoured so it'll stay in the water. Longer.
I purchased a box of 8 spools from an asian eBay source 7yrs ago for less than $20. I'm still on the 1st tube! Since then there are many offerings on Amazon as well, most with free shipping if you order $25 or more. All my fishing buddies now have a vial (ok, all from me). I still have a few vials as my first one isn't even halfway done yet. It's a very small investment to greatly increase your chance of a strike!
In this video i used a 10ft Nesika Surf Rod with a 4000 Cedros Spinner from Okuma. My hook is a #2 O'Shaunessy Ringed Hook by Mustad. Line is 15lb Monofilament by HT Monofilament by Soft Steel.
Traveled the World diving & fishing. Became a ranked billiard player in Asia. Won a few senior bowling tournaments. I travel to the US, Australia & Europe working with museums & doing educational lectures.
