Decided to take tomorrow off and go fishing with my 12 year old son...turns 13 on friday! BOOOOOO!! He's a fishing addict like us all so doing something right!! Anyways, I told him we are going to explore a bit. We've only fished out of Caney Creek and Umphrey. Was looking to try launching out of Cassel Boykins. First of all, I'm not looking to run WOT and know there's timber but I'm also not hoping to have to putt putt along for 2 miles. I will if I have to though. And I know the lake is 6 feet low right now too.
From Cassel I was thinking of only going to 2 places...up west into Pophers Creek and just north to the Canyons.

Any advice for navigating to these two areas is appreciated!!!

Ken Smith just posted some videos of those areas on his You Tube page, talking about the current lake levels and how to run them. Great info! Check it out for sure.

With rain coming, lake 6 foot low, & if you're not too familiar with lake- not sure how much " running " I would be doing with my 13-year-old son if we were just going looking. As suggested here- take a look at Ken Smith video- & just take your time & be safe. Heading straight across from launch to Canyons should be fairly easy. Good luck.

Sam is pretty easy to run. Course if you never been then you don't know. Video's mentioned should help.
