There was a roaring crowd of probably 23 people in attendance. For the most part the only people in any town who attend soccer games are parents, and that's just because their 7 year old kids can't drive themselves there.

My nephew was an all state goalie for Owasso, 6A1 which is the largest class in Oklahoma. I went one game, pretty sure I fell asleep for 1 entire period, I wanted to kick him in the nuts for talking me into going.

Careful now, you might offend one of the Okie State fans. One of their hundred or so uber-spare national championships may have been in soccer.

One of the best American soccer stars ever was born and raised here in Nacogdoches. His family still lives here and I see him at he coffee shop periodically and no one knows who he is. They recognize a second string bench sitter on the high school football team, but not Clint Dempsey.

The manager of a Mexican restaurant in Tyler used to wear a Clint Dempsey jersey a lot, maybe still does. He is known in a lot of places, then again they have soccer playing on their TVs all day every day.
