Launched into Big Cypress Bayou around noon hoping to find some crappie by vertical jigging the laydowns. I caught lots of undersized crappie and some oversized ditch pickles. I can’t believe I landed a 17” bass on the slab shaker, a crappie jig, and 8# mono. Biggest bass and crappie of the day was caught on a Zoom Fat Albert grub. Great day of kayak fishing.

Love how dark those fish are! Look like they are part of the habitat.

Nice catch. Did you put in off of HY-59 or by the railroad bridge in town?
We used to have access to Little Cypress Bayou near Woodlawn a real long time ago. Really neat place to fish.

I launched from private property 2 miles downstream from the dam. A great remote stretch of river.

Went back to Big Cypress today to jig up some crappie. Caught a big red breast, a 1.67lb crappie and ended the day with a largemouth that weighed 3.8lbs. All fish caught on a slabalicous.
