I am looking at buy a 2005 Evinrude 150 that has had the VRO pump replaced with a regular fuel pump. Seller tells me now you have to premix your fuel. Any information on this would be appreciated. Did not know this was possible.

It is not etec. it is 150 Ficht Direct injection

Guys,
Let's visit about this a little. First off all the fuel for this motor ficht or etec is direct injection! So these motors have fuel injectors on the heads and right into each combustion chamber. Therefore if you were to premix your fuel and oil, it's all going to be sprayed right on top of the piston...
That is going to leave the crankshaft bears running dry. These direct injection motors don't have a vro as the old carb'd motors did. They have to have the oil pump so that oil is pumped to the bearings. So I am not sure at all what someone has done there with the motor your looking at.
