Wanting to change to these new lithium batteries for only my trolling motor at this time. Do I want 2 —-12 volt or do I want 1 — 24 volt for my Minnkota ultrex? Do I want 50 or 100 amp ?
I fish lots and the wind eats up my now batteries. I have a live scope that is wired to the cranking battery never had any problems there. If I change that cranking battery to lithium is there a benefit?

Is there some one that I could call that could answer all these questions?

Two 100a 12's as 24v trolling motors use more amps then the 36v. Also with a 24v battery you'll need a 24v charger.

I’ve been on the fence with this one too, save some space going with the single battery. Yes, if a single goes while at a tournament, you’re a bit screwed, just not sure how often that happens.

Definitely go as big as possible, if you’re killing your current batteries.

I went with 3 50ah 12v for my force but I have the ability to just unhook one and go 24v if needed.

best lithium start battery I know of is the ionic 125ah.

you can't just use a lithium for start unless they are set up for it.

Get 2x 100ah lithium batteries. Then pick up a noco charger, I have two 100ah lithium for the trolling motor, one 100ah for electronics, and a wet cell battery for starting/live well/etc. I have a 4x10a noco which can charge all 4 batteries. Noco will charge lithium/agm/lead acid. When I removed the two lead acid batteries and converted to lithium, I removed two 70 lb batteries and installed two 22lb lithium. I can go two trips on the lithium in any wind.

I’ve been running three 50ah batteries for my Garmin Force trolling motor since February. Not too long after I got them, we had a day with 30 mph wind, and I couldn’t really get out of it and still catch fish, so I had to run my trolling motor pretty hard all day (8 hours). I was curious how much was left in my batteries after a high strain day like that, and I still had 57% remaining. Yesterday, with just a little wind, I still had 81% remaining at the end of my day.

So, I don’t think you need more than 50ah batteries, but a couple of things you should think about.

The Garmin Force is brushless, and that helps me use less battery.

If you decide to get lithiums, I’d highly recommend the Ionic brand. They have an app that tells you how much power you have left in them. I believe some other brands do too, and that’s something you’ll want.

Unlike lead acid batteries, you can leave lithiums on less than 100% charged and not damage them. This could allow you to fish multiple days without charging.

I’d definitely get multiple 12v lithiums over a single 24v battery. As small as they are, there’s not much reason not to IMO, and more advantages to having multiple batteries.
