My wife and I are headed on a three lake trip over the upcoming holiday to Fayette, Choke Canyon, and Falcon. Weather looks great on extended forecast. Anyone have a report from these lakes lately? Water temps for Choke and Falcon would also be nice to know. Launching our 21 foot Ranger was a little tricky at Falcon last spring. Hoping was can still launch from the gravel bank using the dirt roads that branch off to the left in the park by the dam.

Choke is not good, not sure what’s wrong with it to be honest, but it’s about as bad as I’ve seen it.

I’ve been seeing some good fish from a Falcon guide post on FB.

Never been to Fayette.

Fayette has been a little slow lately, but you can still catch some decent fish if you know the lake at all. Right now, deeper water is your best bet...

I fished Fayette for the first time a few days ago. Caught 8 in two hours fishing from the bank ranging from 2.5 to almost 5 pounds. The few guys I talked to fishing from boats mentioned most of what they were catching was coming from deeper water in the middle of the arms. Saw one guy catch a couple good ones spotlocked on probably a rock pile.

If you're heading to Fayette I'd recommend checking there isn't a kayak tournament going on. That lake isn't very fun when there's 100 kayakers out there that you need to idle around.

That would've been me.

Choke was solid this summer, does it usually get tough this time of year? This is my first year in Texas so I'm slowly figuring things out.

I don’t know, but if you go, share with me the secret. My last two trips have resulted in zeros, but I’m not a good deep water angler either, so maybe that’s my problem.

Had one of the best days on the water I have ever had on Fayette, fishing 20-25 foot deep with football jigs on Thanksgiving day in 2012, I miss that place so much. Intake side around some old house foundations, rattetraps early in the shallows then moved deep when the sun got up.

Falcon is fishing decent, but not lights out.. Deeper rock and brushpiles, in the 20 foot range..

There are some squarebill and spinnerbait fish up shallow, and early is best for these fish. Think points and rip rap on the dam.

Launching is no problem in town on concrete and at the state park no sweat at Butterfly Blvd..

Stop in and ask about the latest when you hit town..

I will not be here on Thanksgiving and the Friday after..

Water temps here are about 74 degrees this am.

Thanks for the input everyone. Weather is looking great. Will start at Fayette to get our confidence up, then finish at Falcon for the monster.

Any additional information anyone has for recent trips would be greatly appreciated.

Read the duck hunting thread before you go to choke. To be honest with you if I was you I would skip it. Or go catfishing while you are there instead.

Ugh - first day on Falcon today was rough. Water was 59 degrees. Cranked up two bass in the flats. Tried the humps near the dam with jigs, worms, and deep cranks with no luck. Tried spinnerbaits and chatterbaits along dam rip rap with no takers. Only saw one other boat they said they got one bass. Three Rivers was too windy so decided to do Falcon first. Will do Choke in the AM.

Have to admit it was our poorest day on Falcon ever.

The gravel launch past butterfly garden worked okay. 4 wheel drive is a must because the dirt road was a bit muddy with some trenches.
