That you grew up in or any of the schools you attended as a kid?
I still live in Grand Prairie where I grew up and still pass by the school I attended. While it is easy to do, I still make it a point to only drive by my childhood home a few times a year. I don’t know who lives there but I sure hope they are as happy as I was there. Always brings back lots of great memories.

Yep. My folks still live there.
Ephesians 4:4-6 KJV
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

my father still lives there . He bought it in 1960 for $19K . Today it's worth $2M . I took my oldest grandson there last week with my daughter to get a 4 generation pic . My grandson , almost 6 , wanted to see the room I grew up in --- he says , " grandpa , is this where you slept , learned to read and did stuff " ? --- I said yes , a long time ago ---he says " WOW , I like it , can I stay here" ?

I did a time or two but it's so depressing that I quit doing that about 8-10 years ago.
I grew up in a (probably considered) lower middle-class area of Oak Cliff in Dallas. Nobody had a lot of money, but everybody had a lot of pride in what they did have, so the houses, the yards, the cars, etc. were always looking good and in great condition. When "white flight" hit the Oak Cliff area in the late 60s-early 70s the area I grew up in turned completely over - houses, years, cars, etc all looked like krap because there was no pride. The last time I did a drive thru, I'm guessing that absolutely nothing had been done to the vast majority of homes. A badly maintained house will look like a POS if you don't touch it for 35-40 years.
Family is everything! Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

no way in he77 would I drive by our first house in Okiecity, drove by on the expressway but no way would I visit that hood.
pulled it up 2-3 yrs. ago and it did look like the hood was cleaning up some but still no way would I pull in to drive thru.
same with gradeschools, could walk to both, second one was built at the edge of the neighborhood at the expressway.
jr. high first yr. was a new school 7th grade, same with it too probably, it is about 4-5 miles away so not sure how nice that area is anymore.

What has happed to you does not define who you are-
HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

I go by every few years to the one in Port Neches but I have to make an effort because it's on the way to nowhere.
The one in Tennessee I don't remember too much of (moved very young) is right next to where my only surviving sister lives. My dad sold it to his god son from Atlanta.
I have pretty decent early childhood memories for an old.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I drive past my old house and the elementary school I attended. It's a block from my house. When we were in junior high and high school we played baseball there every day during the summer. The backstop is gone but the auditorium is still there. We had to hit it on top of the building for a home run. I sometimes wish I had a bat and a ball, and someone to pitch to me, to see if I could still do it.
I absolutely loved my childhood. I got together with three of my high school friends at the house that is still owned by one of their moms. That was last November. We played poker at the same table where we played in high school. One of them has since retired from the Navy so you know that was a few years ago. We played sports every day. Football, baseball, basketball, we played whatever was in season every day.

I grew up on Glynn Cir here in Grand Prairie. About half the houses and kids of varying ages several were in our age group. Streetball and football every single day. One of the kids eventually got a basketball goal that sat in the circle but that really wasn’t our thing. Played a lot of hide and seek when we were younger. Everybody knew everybody and we were all welcome in each other’s homes and we’re just as liable to get a spanking as we were to get fed.
From the time I was old enough to have a memory all the way to when they retired, sold that home, and moved to Kansas, my grandparents never locked that front door ever.
That circle seemed so big back then.

Used to, it’s gone now. The house I grew up in was ultimately purchased from my mom and bulldozed and a very nice home built in its place. I will never go back there again, which is a bit weird
