 Joe Pool for cats?

I know there are plenty of better lakes for cats, but my son has really been wanting to try Joe Pool? Anyone had any luck catfishing on Joe Pool, and can you find any shad there? Not looking for any honey holes or specifics necessarily, just curious.

Tried Joe Pool last weekend. Threw the castnet around Lynn Creek Marina for over an hour w no luck. We had some shad on ice that we harvested the night before from a local creek. We started drifting w shad early AM and fished most of the day. We ended up with 5 cats total (one blue just under 12lbs, one 8.5lbs and 3 eaters). We also managed one 4.5lb LMB on dead shad as well.
