I recently bought a gently used g.loomis gcx mag bass rod for a steal of a price. I’ve stayed in the $100-$150 range on rods so this is my first expensive rod. It’s a mh/f rated for 1/4-3/4. Thinking of using it for jigs and T-rig mostly as that is my bread and butter techniques. Maybe some moving baits like bladed jig or spinners. Looking for a good reel to pair it with. I currently use daiwa tatula 100’s but was looking to upgrade in the reel department since this is a nicer rod. I was considering between a tatula sv or a curado k, maybe even a DC as I’m still learning with baitcasters, only been using them a little over a year. I’d also like to be able to skip which is something I’m practicing which is why I considered the DC as I’ve heard it’s very forgiving. Idk if I’m asking too much out of a single reel or if I should consider buying 2?

My son likes Daiwa, I like Shimano, Curado K's & MGLs cause I'm cheap. His buddies on the HS team like the DCs. Daiwa will cast farther, but my son backlashes a lot more than I do with the Curados. MGL has additional centrifugal weights on the spool, seems to work a little better than the 200 Ks. Neither of us are very good at skipping so not going to knock either brand there, but I can tell you I can tighten up the spool on the Shimano pretty good and let it rip without overspeeding the spool. They're both good brands so best to pick one that fits your budget and learn it.

There has been a Shimano Metanium on the classified section here this past week I have been trolling around. It's not the DC model, but this reel alone should add to anyone's equipment. Awesome reel. Might have a look and see there.

I have 9 Shimano Metanium MG's and they cast like you can't believe. When you are in the co-anglers seat on a 20' bass boat and the boat is facing the bank and the boater is throwing at the bank it pretty much sucks. But casting the Metaniums another 25-40' helps hit targets while not casting "over" your boater.

My reels can do that. Even though these reels are pretty pricey new I bought all of them off of e bay for about $100 each. And left-handed to boot.

You may say used reels are not worth it but man, these are Shimano's, Most came in perfect condition in original boxes with tool, grease, cover and instructions in Japanese.

If you can find some on Ebay that are about the same go for it.
