I hear that Sexy Shad colored crankbaits sucks, and does not catch fish. At least, according to Randy Blaukalt.
Is this true? Anyone have any experiences with Sexy Shad colors? Also, what are the recommended crankbait colors?
I have a Strike King 5XD amd am debating whether I should keep carrying it around or repaint.

Man, I have caught SO. MANY. FISH. off a 3/4oz Sexy Shad Red Eye lipless this year.
That said, no. they dont work. Send them all to me.

I went and listened to his video about the color. He said you hear someone wins a tournament throwing it so everyone goes out and buys it and they start catching on it and they are only catching fish because everyone is throwing it. That is the most ridiculous statement that you could make that a color is bad and doesn't catch fish. If everyone is throwing it and regardless of reason, they are catching fish then maybe there is nothing wrong with the color and the problem just may be him. He talks about how he isn't impressed with the back color when he sees it in water or the plain white belly. Who cares whether the color impresses him? The fish being impressed enough to bite it is the only thing to care about.
I personally throw it more than any other color on crankbaits.

You have one sexy shad 5XD and you are thinking about repainting it? Why not go throw it for a half hour and lose it in some rock and then buy a new one the color you want? If it were me, I'd buy another sexy shad. In stained water, it's my preferred color.

The SK chartreuse sexy Shad has been $$$ for me over the years-Not overly done, just a hint of chartreuse and I think it helps being subtle.
