So, is it just me or does anyone else use the same knot for everything? I tie the improved clinch for everything, minus the Palomar for drop shots. I see some anglers get really into it and tie a separate knot for a square bill, Texas rig, top water, etc etc. Im not judging anyone or trying to offend, Im just curious on everyone's thoughts.

With the exception of a loop knot on my topwaters and small swimbaits I only tie a Palomar. I have tried virtually every know out there and always come back to it. Simple to tie and super strong knot.

Palomar for everything and Alberto for leaders. It just doesn’t need to be anything else.

Just my .$02
I grew up fishing mono and always used a improved clinch knot without any issues, when I started using fluorocarbon I quickly learn that a improved clinch knot and fluorocarbon aren't meant for each other. I now tie a double uni-knot when using fluorocarbon...no issues at all....and stick with the improved clinch knot when using mono or braid

For general fishing a Palomar knot will work most of the time. However, I fish for line class records and since a Palomar knot usually test to about 95% of the line, I created a knot to get that last 5%. I call it the Osborn Overkill Knot; most people will consider it overkill. roflmao Discussion and criticism is welcome.

That look similar to the notorious Gordian knot.

Good analogy. It takes an Alexander the Great fish to break it. roflmao

Improved clinch is not a very strong knot. I have not tied one in years . Polmar or eyecrosser are much better. The eyecrosser is just a uni-knot , but you
go thru the eye twice before tying the uni.

I use the improved clinch knot for both mono & flourocarbon & have never had a problem. Could be because I only use lighter lines (4 lb test for sunfish & 10-12 lb test for bass)
