I've used Navionics exclusively in my units for as long as I can remember. I really like the custom depth shading that CMap offers so am looking to get a map chip from them. My question to all of you that have been using CMap is whether the additional features with CMap Reveal are worth the additional $$s. Looks like Raster Charts, Satellite Imagery, Shaded Relief are the main features additional to what Discover comes with. I fish pretty much exclusively on Toledo Bend or Rayburn with a trip to Fork every once in a while.

popcorn too complicated for me to figure out their differences. But the c-map that came with my Lowrance is wrong pretty often anyways.

Check out our charts. We have privately mapped data with very high detail to help find those wrecks and the bottom you are looking for.

CMap Explorer

Go to this link and find USA go to Texas zoom in to any lake you want to look at, You can even turn on the Shaded Relief not to be confused with Shaded Depth. Make sure under Layers on the right hand side of the screen HRB is turned on. Enjoy

Which Cmap card came with the carbons? I know my card is nothing like the page you linked too, that page is 50x better than my card. Can I update my card to look like that or would I need a new card altogether?

The card that came with Carbons was the discovery card which is the same data as the reaveal Cmap. You can update it and since it covers all of north america you might want to just update Texas so you have room on the card to give you the most data. Also do you have the HRB on your map menu turned on if not that is your issue. Just to be clear are you talking about a Cmap card or what was put into the Carbon from the factory. if that is the case that is a hybread map not a real CMap. Then you will need a card. Can you do Depth Shading on your interenal map? if yes then you have CMap internal if not then you don't.

One Carbon has built in, the other didn’t; both came with cards. I am using the card and yes sir, the high resolution is on and definitely helps. The webpage seems to be more accurate than my cards, not sure how that’s possible, but the cards show things that aren’t there. I’ll try to update one, thank you sir. cheers

Carbon never had CMap built in while it may say CMap it is not its a mix of insight and Cmap data. It will not do Depth Shading that would be the test. Does it do depth shading on the internal mapping. If you go to about the mapping should also be listed on there. The Discover Map will do shading. Take a screen shot of your about screen and post if you cannot find it.

The cards will shade, whatever the built in is, will not. I was in a rush to leave the lake house and forgot to get the card out of the graph. bang Not sure if this would help you identify the card, it came with the BPS Black Friday Carbon 12 last year.

I had to watch a video on how to do the contour depth shading, definitely isn’t the easiest to do. I won’t be back down there until thanksgiving, I’ll take some comparison shots, maybe I’m just crazy and the contours are really the same. It sure does seem to look more impressive on the website.

ITs the discovery card you have that is the only card Lowrance sent out with Carbons. Do you have all the categories in your Carbon turned on for mapping details and location details? Sometimes they get turned off so you lose location detail in your map. Also as we discussed if you have not updated then that could be a big part of it.
