Does pouring Mountain Dew down a fish help it after it is deep hooked ?

No scientific data here, but I keep a bottle in my cooler on tourney day. If a fish is hooked deep and/or bleeding, I pour Mountain Dew on the spot and put the fish in the livewell. Something in the MD stops the bleeding and makes it clot is my take. Haven’t lost one. Might just make me feel better. 😆

He says the fish died. Should have thrown it back.

Gotta fill the livewell at least a quarter of mountain dew.

Get the real deal… Sure Life Please Release Me, make a paste and put it on the area bleeding. Then a healthy dose in the live well and your fish won’t die. Mountain Dew will stop the bleeding but does nothing to calm or help the fish.

Not sharing the Diet Mt Dew with the fish. It’s rocket fuel.

Best thing we can do is get them back in the lake as quickly as possible (recognize, that doesn't work on tournament day). Used to carry Mountain Dew for that purpose, but was talked out of it by a couple of different fishery biologists

Thank you...someone understands this.

This is why I buy the big bottle and keep it in my boat. Nothing worse than a fish choking down your bait and bleeding away.
