Anyone have success with tail spinner type lures for sand bass, have read criticism on some varieties not functioning well with hook interfering.

Have caught tons of sandies over the years on Little George type lures.

I have had very little trouble with Little Georges and have had some very good days catching mixed bags of Sandies and Black Bass.

Little George is a classic; works great

Also like the line through wahoo wingding; put a bobber stop on the line first, then the wingding, then tie a small/compact knot (like a Palomar) to a size six treble. If you go up in size on the treble or tie a bulkier knot, the hook will foul with the lure or the line above the tail spinner.

Rooster tail white, green, basically any color the largest in my box, Mepps spinner with and without tails have been working better that anything else lately for sandies.....but maybe they only throw them 1, 2,3 or 4 and says they don't work...fish with people who toss a lure 3 times and says it aint working.....I was taught try a lure at least 10 casts before you change....

My personal favorite has become the Bass Proshop brand. The White Bass on my lake really eat them up.

We moved in 2020 next to a bigger lake that was only 29 miles from the house. I was a bit over hesitant to fish there because my wife's patients level is is pretty shallow.

I really enjoy catching Hybrids and got a group together to chase some and of course I took my rid (baitcaster, just can't get into spinning reels). The guild told me I wouldn't catch any on lures and I didn't! Since then I have gone to the almost weekly and finally took the tail spinner off, they just don't like on the lake!

Heck I am way old school on these. The little George does catch fish, I even have some of the old Hart spin baits that you ran the line through the body and then tied on the hook. Both the lil' George and the Hart uses a treble hook and about the only thing I had trouble with either was getting the fish off quick enough to throw back out for another fish...

I have cut one side of the treble hook off on these, spoons and slabs to help unhook the fish easier and quicker. Makes for a much better situation all together once I started doing that. It's been that way now almost 50 years in my tackle box lol... Sure if I ever needed a full treble hook on something I modified and a quick stinger single hook didn't catch whatever, I always have new split rings and treble hooks I would go to. Never have had trouble with the one side cut off on the treble hooks. Just cut one side off that flows along the side of the body of lil'George, the rest of them you can cut any one side off those baits hook...

Give this a try, bet you will really like how much better they all fish.
