I need some guidance. I have a 1984 Ranger 373V with 1991 Johnson 150 Faststrike on a 2011 Roadrunner trailer. Prior to issues, it was a great boat and ran 58 on GPS.

Then engine troubles and a freak storm caused damage to the hull shown on attached pictures. I had a mechanic look at the motor. He replaced the power pack, but the new power pack failed. He was able to return it, so all I paid was for diagnostic. He said it needs a complete power pack rebuild including stator and it would cost $1,600. I paid $5,000 for the boat 2 years ago so not sure I want to invest more.

With that said, I'm thinking I want to move past boat ownership. I'm thinking about the following options
1 - Donate it to a charity and take the tax write-off on the $5,000 book value.
2 - Sell it as-is, but not sure if people buy broken boats.
3 - Other options?

donate to a charity is your best option, in perfect condition it would bring the 5k. boats hit a point where they are worth just so much due to age and needing repairs you might get 1,500 for all.
