Jack Got "Out-Flanked" by my Flanker Speed Jig Lure! Was Released:)

Today i used my Okuma 9'9" Guide Select Pro 9'9" GSP-S-992M rated for 8-17lbs line w/a lure rating at 3/8-1oz. I used my Limited Edition GT 4K Spinning Reel also by Okuma filled with 15lb monofilament by Soft Steel. The lure was a 4-1/2in Flanker Speed Jig Lure at 1oz by FishLab. This rod feels good for using 4K spinners, possibly 5K as well. A 3K might be too small. I've tried 1/2oz lures/jigs and it's ok, just won't get the distance possible using a 3/4-1oz lure.

I first spooled on 10lb braid. Holds a lot of line! 22lb max drag. I think the current 15lb mono feels good to throw lures. If you go all braid 10-20lb would be ok. This is a limited edition spinning reel by Okuma. Comes in green or orange. Only 1,500 units were produced and individually numbered. If you have the chance to get one, keep on eye out on eBay. The Guide select Pro's are popular Salmon & Trout Rods up in the NW United States. Works well here in Hawaii for salt water species as well.

This Medium rated rod is perfect for shoreline jigging & lure casting. A lighter rated rod would be a good trout & bass rod. Heavier rated rods are being used with baits & flashers for Salmon up in the NW USA. I've been using Guide Select Pros for years with great success for salt water species of the shoreline.

When i was informed of the Flanker line by FishLab i knew they were instant winners as i used to design & produce my own lures before. Nowadays i tend to release my catches. So i try not to damage my catches by pinching in the barb tips. I might use some Mustad Inline single hooks meant for plugging lures next as replacements after i find some rings.
