Are there any local people that could repair a good taped cast net? I know I probably could but there are some things that are worth a few $.

Get some fishing line and sew it up

I use braid to repair mine and if I break a braille line I use my 80 pound mono leader line...

Seems like this has been covered but I would like to add................net repair isn't nearly as difficult as one might think,actually it may be time consuming but easy peezy.

I can fix holes. I'm struggling trying to find the issue this time. It's not closing correctly. One of the sides hangs down and won't close. Should be a busted braile line but I can't find it or see the issue I've spread it out and looked best I can.


It also causing it to tangle up every couple throws.

I've tried and put time into it. Just seeing if there were options.

Problem as I see it is the disposable world we live in today. Lets say a net cost $100 more or less. Somebody with this talent will want at least $20hr. I can easily spent 2 hours or more patching my net and it still doesn't look or work like new. $40-$50 bucks for a repaired net seems like a little bit much. So I patch til I am frustrated then buy a new net. As you said Time,Time, Time.

That has got either a broken brail line or its got one or more missing altogether. That, or maybe a couple of the braid lines twisted up together. You chunk that suckered on the grass somewhere and have a good look/see at this. You should be able to find this I would think.

I lay mine out upside down on the grass as perfectly pancaked as possible,easier with two people but can be done alone.Faults stick out like a sore thumb making repairs much easier.

I've had this, here's my fix.
The brail lines aren't exactly tied off at the swivel (as they pass from one side to another). Sure, there's a lot of friction, but it's nothing like tied-off. So, lay the net out as Whistlebritches said, and the brails that need adjustment should be really obvious--like pulling the horn, obvious. pull the short ones until the swivel matches up with the horn and you're in business. When I've had this problem, there's one that is way out of wack and a couple on either side that need attention too. It doesn't take long to get everything evened up.
You can do this, with the net hanging from the horn, but it's easier for me to find the right brail, with the net all spread out--brail side up, I didn't mention that.
