In this video, I use a technique that gets you some super hard thumbs and that is because it makes the crappie react. I hope you try this on your home lake if you don't already.

I use a similar technique but instead of casting, I drop my jig down right in front of the boat to set my desired depth using livescope. Once I've adjusted it, I close the bale and then grab the line several eyes up and pull it up until the jig is out of the water but still have enough line out to create a pendulum motion. I then pitch it out and let it drift over my target area. This ensures I don't get snagged on anything and that I'm at the right depth 'swimming' over the top of the fish.

Pendulum technique is very effective especially over brush piles. Have to use the counting technique , and yes jigs will be lost. Thanks for the video , excellent as always.

I like using a slip bobber when the fish are stubborn...if the the fish/pile tops out at 12 feet I'll set my bait to run just at the top of the pile. Cast past the pile and either pop the retrieve,..or retrieve a crank or two and stop over the pile...you can also use this on timber.
Throw past the timber,..and drag it back. I use a jig, and it works well with minnows. This works well when the wind is up,..and your
spotlock is jogging all around,..just back up, and throw out over the pile.
