10/3/2022: Tested Mepps sizes yesterday afternoon and #1 is still getting more strikes than a #2 or a #4. By the end of October fish should be taking #4 readily and labs should start working again.

Dennis do you use a 3/16 oz weight for the #1 Mepps like you do for the #2 Mepps?

Thanks for the report Dennis. I went out Saturday and did not do so well. Tried several spots from Pitts point all the way to Game Warden with not much luck. Plenty of fish on the finder, just not a whole lot of bites. I was using a #3 though. Best spot was Pitts point in about 10 FT. Had to reel slowly back to the boat after making a cast to even get a bite. Did manage to catch a couple at East hump as well.

Drew's Humps and Key Ranch Drop=off consistently hold schools of white bass in 10 to 16 fow. But you have to use a Mepps 1 or 2 to catch them.

Looking forward to the fall bite. I'll be going out until then, but might switch to whisker fish until then.
You ain’t gonna catch any sittin’ on the couch.

10/8/2022: I am happy to report that I found white bass that readily bit a #4 Mepps today. I caught them 4 out of 5 casts at Enchanted Isle Ridge in 20 fow and Game Warden Hump in 15 to 20 fow on a #4. I think the "Fall bite" is starting. There are still some structures where they want a #2. That was the case at Key Ranch Drop-off and Spillway Hump.

Where is Enchanted Isle Ridge? I looked on your map and didn't see it.

It is off the map to the north - the next east-side point.

10/11/2022: Took fellow choir member Jim R out for the first time white bass fishing for him. He normally drifts for cats. Today turned out windy, so we fished mostly protected structures. We caught most of the 60 fish at Merimac Point, Dollhouse Point, and Game Warden Hump. We did best on #4 Mepps, but we caught an equal amount on #2's at Game Warden. Jim picked up the #4 technique pretty quick and caught a good number of fish. We were out from 10 AM to 2 PM.
