I say for the average adult in the US they are up 400% with the cost of electricity leading the way. It will be 60+ cents per kWh by 2032. Reliability will also be down. Emissions won’t be lower and the planet will still be here. Those living on it will be much crazier.

At could be as short as 5 years.

What is your prediction?

The more ev's that are mandated, the more the cost of electricity will increase. Bad thing is, electricity is used for more than transportation needs.

I wouldn’t have been so pessimistic a couple of years ago, but things have deteriorated before our eyes in the last couple of years. The grid is failing and all energy pricing is escalating at rates no one have predicted. So, I don’t doubt it will get worse, but how much worse, I cannot predict. I have some faith that a change in administrations will make a difference, but there will be pain before that happens.

It's hard to guess that far in advance. There are a lot of variables to be factored into the timeframe, the most important being whom is captaining the ship. IF we remain a blue country then all bets are off as to how unaffordable the actual cost of living a first world lifestyle will be for the average American family.

I predict I will still be driving my 2000 Silverado, but have a newer more energy efficient heat pump on my house. With more people using EV cars, my gas bill will be lower. That will offset any uptick in electric costs.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I'm locked in at 3.5 cents per kwh through 2031 at work. Doubt the people I work with understand the gift I've given the company. I learned to push contracts out when prices are low a long time ago.

Just wait until they start rationing energy to homes. Nothing good is going to come from too much government control. The past 2 years has proven that.

The price of energy is what is killing high tech companies. Where they go the markets go.

I may have to move back to Missouri and burn trees to keep warm. Not sure how I will keep cool though. Maybe a deep storm cellar?

I have no prediction but I don't think it will be 400% higher in 10 years adjusted for inflation.

Our grid did not fail due to anything new. We had an unanticipated cold spell that they did not anticipate.
It also happened a couple weeks after the new president took over. Yeah is pretty luny saying that but everything is political now a days.
More power was lost from fossil fuels than from renewables and even nuclear had power interruptions.

I will wait to see what happens as the grids changes over and electricity expands. No doubt there will be a change.

Here is the reliability issue with renewables of wind and solar. Some days the sun doesn’t shine or the wind doesn’t blow. This this can be 25,000 MW on the best days. Today it’s 17,000MW. Others it’s 8,000 MW. On the peak days prior to much solar or wind there was 98% of the generation being consumed.

You can’t count on wind and solar. They aren’t maintaining enough conventional generation as back up. It’s getting worse every year. At the same time they are adding load and wanting to add even more load like EV. It’s a recipe for disaster.
