Got to the lake b4 sunrise & it was 69 degrees...brrrr chill Also had a full moon & north wind today...all the right ingredients for a poor day. BUT SOMEONE FORGOT TO TELL THE FISH! Ended up with 36 bass and well over a hundred sunfish. 2 of the bass were just under 5 lbs. & another was 4.2 with lots of 3-4s in the mix. Picked up 8 bass at sunrise & all the rest came between 11:30 & 1:30. The sunfish bite was way better than last week...guess they are recovering from the rain/oxygen issue. I did see a few dead ones floating, but not that many. All but one of the bass were caught on swimbaits pretty shallow & the sunnies were around 6-7 feet deep. Fished 4 different sunfish areas & they all are still holding good fish. This won't last much longer...in about a month they will just disappear. I pretty much had the lake all to myself today except for 1 or 2 boats & a cast netter. [Linked Image]

Well done! Good to know all the fish didn't die. Probably about 1-2 weeks away from getting back on my normal Fayette routine! Look forward to meeting you out on the water. I'll definitely be trying the sunfish technique with my kiddos!

Darn, sounds like a stellar day for sure. Those a really big bream, I have caught some pretty nice ones fishing in cattails on artificial lizards. They were not that size lol... I always have trouble with them swallowing the hook.

I don't want to keep them, I like them bigger the next time we cross paths. Those really small mouths they have can make for a real challenge to remove a hook if they inhale it, which the surely can too. Anyway these are some really nice ones you have in those pix.

Thanks Chuck, Yesenia, Bill, Rowdy & Skeeter.

Skeeter...If you want to get on the best sunfish action...don't delay too long. Last year they were all gone from all their summer spots by 10/11. After that they are super hard to find. That's also about the time that they start lowering the water levels. Looking forward to meeting you as well...just stop by and say hi anytime...

Curtis...The bass bite is starting to pick up. You can get pretty good detail from the guides websites (Pete Dodge & Rick Denton).

Thanks sowhntr,DQ & Dfitz...
