Super nice guy. Got my haircut at the place he did when I was in middle school in Jasper. He always took the time to answer my thousands of questions haha. Even gave me some prototype rods once that never got produced publicly

I was in Guntersville working during the 02 or 03 Classic. Wife brought our kids and nephews down for the week and attended daily activities. They had a kids day where they signed autographs. To this day my wife really dislikes a big name pro because his interaction with kids, meanwhile Jay was sitting beside him and really being kind and interested. When I came in that night my wife met me at door and said Jay Yelas is going to win this tournament. She became a fan of Yelas for life on his attitude and to this day dislikes the other pro.
Yes, I have a picture of who Jay was sitting beside and yes I know Classic was on Lay Lake.
I prefer peace.But if trouble must come let it come in my time. So that my children may live in peace

Great guy. Met him when I took my boys to the Classic in Shreveport my middle son got his autograph and he was extremely gracious with the boys. I was impressed.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Met Jay a couple years back at the Fork event, sat and talked with him and his folks for a hour or so. Great man and an even better role model!
