I am wanting to schedule a "bucket list" fishing trip to Canada. I would appreciate anyone's advice or recommendations based on real experience. I would love a great smallmouth fishery included and would prefer to fish with a guide, also more interested in Northern and Muskie than lake trout or walleye. Thanks in advance!

Google Delaney Lake Lodge. Fly in up Ontario. First class operation with guide every day. Best smallmouth fishing I’ve ever had. Hit the spawn dead on 4 years ago and two of us caught 101 in 6 hours on fly rods. Check your PM

Munroe Lake Lodge. Best Northern Pike fishing in the world. Book a week in early June for “ice out”. You will average 4 footers over the week with a few reaching 5 feet long. You’ll be reeling away from 3-1/2 footers cause you’ll be tired of netting “small fish”
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

Hawk Lake Lodge is the best small mouth fishing I have ever had at any location. This is a "drive to" lodge about 3 1/2 hours north of International Falls or 4 hours from Winnipeg. It is Orvis endorsed, and the lodging and food are top notch. They do a Happy Hour every day at 5 pm. The basic cost is "non-guided". You can get a guide for $250 per day. The boats all have electric start and fish finders on them plus trolling motors. I have been to Delaney Lake Lodge and much prefer Hawk Lake. My wife and I have been 3 times to Delaney and 4 times to Hawk Lake. We prefer to arrive in Winnipeg rather than International Falls because sometimes the border crossing at International Falls is backed up with boats going to Lake of the Woods or Rainey. We normally catch 40-80 smallies per day on the main lake, you can get up to a 100 per day on some of the Portage lakes. Drop me a line if you need more info. We rent a car for the trip, the shuttle prices are usually more than the rental of an auto. Have fun.
