Looking to replace some some bearings in my Revo X reel. I've had it a few years now, and just noticed it is starting to get pretty noisy. Which bearings do you recommend as far as best quality and price? Are there any additional tools I will need to change out the bearings on my own? The Revo X comes with 8 bearings, but I'll only need to change out the bearings on the brakes and spool, so a total of just 2 bearings, right?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Tackle Trap website has 3 options, Bocas are the cheapest. They have some noise to them, not sure if the others are quiet or not. I don’t know your reel, but you might possibly need 3 for the spool. You might find an online schematics before ordering.

Nate, we have 2 reel guys on this board and the afore mentioned TackleTrap. I would contact them to see what is available to use on the Abu's. I've heard that the bearings to use are ceramic, but they produce noise. I prefer the traditional bearings and have uprgaded several reels with Bryan at TackleTrap.

Looks like they're backed up 4+ weeks for reel repair. Looking for a faster turnover than that. I've watched several YouTube videos on the bearing replacements, and feel as if I could easily get the job done myself and save a little extra coin during this Bidenflation time period.

Pretty easy to do if you can run a screw driver and a pair of pliers.

Is the reel noisy when casting? If so then maybe you should look at replacing the bearings. If it is noisy when winding then I would replace the Drive Gear and Pinion Gear, this will make it feel new and buttery again. Bearings may help you cast a little further but replacing the gears on an old reel is the best thing you can do in my own opinion. Factory bearings have never failed me but the gears DO get worn down over time.

Ebay has a good selection of reel bearing but you will need to know the demensions to order them.

I just changed the bearings in some of my revo's. I put the Bocca ceramic in. Just change the one in the cap and the one on the spool. 5 minute job. Just watch a youtube video and ur good. No special tools needed unless the pin is hard to get out then u just need a pair of channel locks with a little over bite to push it out. They are noisy but cast much better

Dad's ol tackle .. hybrid bearings.. replace the bearings and use open bearings.

You'd be surprised how much better it will perform by simply cleaning and oiling the bearings you have. Clean them well. Blow them dry with a can of air, then put a drop or two of good oil like TSI.

I hear this often, but I have yet been able to figure out how to get the steel bearing covers off the side. I can’t find anything small enough to remove the keeper.

No need to take the side covers off. I use an ultrasonic cleaner, only takes a few minutes to clean then blow them out with compressed air. One drop of oil after and good as new.
