How's the fishing been on lake Bastrop? I tried the search but nothing came up. I will be camping there the first week of October.

Some of the grass has died naturally or sprayed. Water temps are in the low 90s.

Thanks for the reply. We will be in Kayaks, just hoping to catch some. If you don't mind what were they hitting on?

Hookem are you back living in Austin again? And do you play a little frisbee while you're fishing??? LOL. (it looks like a frisbee at least on your deck)

Yes it is! Tons of littles, but I've not caught many over 4 out there.

I've never left the area. Born(1959), raised and have lived here since. I'm in Liberty Hill now since end of May. The frisbee is for the anchor we use to fish an area. Sometimes it brings up some good ole black slop. Cheaper than spot lock or poles.
That is my buddy's boat and his fish.

We have caught some nice ones there the last decade or so. I've caught a few 5+ and a few 6s. Biggest was 7.2 a few years ago at night.
Bastrop is our Fall lake.

When we started to fish, we fished Travis before you could see the glow of Austin in the mid 70s. We launched off the shore at Darlene's Point near Trails End and mostly fished the Sandy arm.
Now, I can't get him to fish Travis. bang

I have fished Bastrop hundreds of times. I caught a 6-pounder on a hollow body frog about 10 years ago. I don't think I've caught a fish in the 5's since.

Haven't been in a couple of years but we used to catch plenty in the 3-4 pound range using a flutter spoon under the schoolies. It was like the bigger fish were just waiting under the small schoolers for dead and stunned shad to sink down to them.
