My kayak is leaking. Makes me so mad. I prob need a pro angler now. Grrrrrrrr!

Have you found the source(s)? A significant leak can be two small breaches.
I realize that finding the source(s) can be nearly impossible.

I know you have lots of experience and probably know that the most common areas are the following:
Scuppers
Hatches
Plugs
Drive and rudder/skeg areas

The best method is to line the inner hull with newspaper.
Paddle for ten minutes and get her out of the water.
Find the wet area(s) and then thoroughly investigate.
Then plastic weld on the outside and reinforce with JB water weld on the inside hull of the plastic weld

I’ve tried other methods
Air and soapy water, filling the kayak with water, etc, etc without success if the leak is a dynamic leak.

It's my viking 440. I was castnetting bait and suddenly my yak got unstable. Went to shore and dumped out a solid 5 or so gallons of water. It has to be a supper, no obvious place I noticed on shore.

If you find a cracked scupper and can reach it from inside the hull, packing and wrapping the scupper crack/hole from inside the hull with JB water weld is an easy fix. Plastic weld from the outside if doable/reachable from the outside. If not reachable with the soldering iron and plastic from the outside, more JB waterweld on the outside to sandwich the repair.

The 440 doesn't really have in hull access. I flipped it over but couldn't see any obvious spots. Prob a supper. It's a real bummer.

Suppose if you can narrow it down to which scupper, you could just seal that one scupper off.
I’ve had to do it before. The method I used:

Find pex tubing of a diameter that barely fits inside the leaking scupper. The more snug, the better.
Cut to appropriate length.
Coat the outside of that pex tubing liberally with Lexel adhesive and jam the pex tubing into the faulty scupper.
Then seal the joined rims on top and under the hull with JB waterweld putty.

With the above method, you seal the scupper while maintaining its functionality.

How unstable did it get?.. did you get really wet unstable?

I did not dump. It started while I was sitting. I heard bubbles and what sounded like running water. Just made the assumption it was the water flowing under my kayak. I started throwing the castnet and noticed as I was throwing my rear tankwell was holding about an inch of water. At first I just thought it was cause I'm getting a bit fatter than I used to be. But then it started feeling a little tippy. I paddled to shore and opened the drain plug and tipped the kayak up and I bet 6 or 8 gallons of water came out. This really shocked me. I looked for the leak and didn't see any obvious spot but getting to shore I got the kayak super muddy. It has to be a leak below water line but with all the mud it was impossible to see. I tried to continue fishing the rest of the day as I was fishing in only 18" of water but had to drain 2 more times.

That is the worst feeling in kayak fishing… I was 2 miles offshore dania beach Florida and realized kayak was taking on a lot of water. Turned around in big waves and headed back to shore.. Couldn’t control kayak going downwind with waves as water in hull would rush to bow of kayak and bury the nose as wave lifted stern. I was horrified. Had to turn bow into to wind and waves and let them push me back to shore.. was much easier to stay upright as bow stayed high.. took nearly an hour to make it back and through the surf zone. Lots of folks on beach watching. I turned kayak around in calm water, lit up a smoke in victory and as I slung leg over to get out, water rushed to that side and dumped me in two feet of water.. lost my sunglasses and had a wet broke cigarette sticking out my mouth.. must have had 60/70 lbs of water in it as I had hard time pulling it on to beach. First time out in kayak after it flew off my car at 60 miles an hour landed on its nose on interstate. missed a spot when making earlier repairs.






Still reminded of that day whenever I take that kayak out.

Meh. My Manta started leaking about a year after I bought it (13 years ago). Never found the source. Calm conditions result in a cup or so of water after several hours; rougher conditions might be a quart. Never felt at risk.

Big difference between a quart and several gallons. Just a quart wouldn't affect the kayak's stability much--you could just fill the inside of the kayak with pool noodles and be just fine with a quart or less.

Hahaha. Yeah. Mine seems to get 5 or so gallons in 30 mins or so. A quart I could deal with.

So after some serious thinking, I'm looking hard at the nucanoe pursuit. I need to try one and throw my net from one but I think I need the flat deck not pedals in my way. This is really just a local fresh water kayak for me.ihave a kayak that can cover water fast. Anyone know anyone selling one? I don't want 360 seat, just lawn chair seat.
