Where do you all think would make a good fall fishing trip with some fine frogging action? I didn’t draw a fall hunt this year so I have some time to extend this years fishing season!
I’m very familiar with Amistad, but not real sure about the quality of the fishery. Been to Falcon as well a few times but again am leery of the water level. Was thinking about Sam Rayburn or Lake Fork. People I’ve visited with said o.h. Ivies been hit hard, and aside from the opportunity of catching a huge bass was just ok for numbers. I’d be open to going to dropping in a couple of different places as well. Lake Pallistine?
Your thoughts as always greatly appreciated.

If you are looking for a good chance of catching numbers (not size) of frog fish in the fall my first thoughts would be the following:

Fayetteville
Lake Bastrop

We go to Toledo Bend every year in Oct. Some years are just better than others, alot depends on how much grass is in the lake. If you don't like the Bend big Sam ain't far away.

If you're already thinking of going to Rayburn, then just go. One of the best, most consistent lakes in Texas imho. And plenty of froggin action between the haygrass, drilla and pads around the lake.

Lake Naconiche, Martin Creek Lake State Park (power plant lake), and Lake Murvaul... smaller lakes, enjoyable scenery and lots of vegetation and good fishing! Could also hit Pinkston and Lake Nacogdoches while you're there. All within an hours drive from any of them you choose to stay at. Not far from Sam Rayburn.

Naconiche is my favorite... got my personal best there earlier this year.. 12.50. Lots of hydrilla and wood. Fairly new lake, but no lake maps. Channels are marked. Lots of friendly locals. Nice private cabins for rent on the lake, private rv campground as well. Haven't stayed at either as its only an hour from home. Lake is only 10=12 years old.

Murvaul I think was the first lake to stock Florida bass years ago .. lost a lot of grass over the last several years but still enjoy it. Was there this past Saturday and caught a few to 4 lbs and lost a good one.

Martin Creek is a power plant lake and still has lots of vegetation.. lily pads. State park has cabins, rv and tent camping in scenic areas. Something special about fishing a lake with the fog coming off the water in the early morning. Haven't fished it since early this year but drove past it a month or so ago and couldn't believe the amount of lily pads there were. Probably the best lake to get your confidence up if you want numbers.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.
