I bought some because of the thread last month. I loved it as a kid.
Tried the low sodium can and fried it in the skillet. Much like Nightmare on Elm Street, it did not hold up like it did when I was a kid.
Total sodium bomb and made me wonder what the hell I was ever thinking.

Wife just bought some...some items are getting crazy expensive, looking for alternatives to pass the time away.

When I was a kid, my mom cooked it every once in a while at breakfast. I ate it because I had to. Now I don’t have to.

Total sodium bomb and made me wonder what the hell I was ever thinking. I too ate as a kid and because of the thread last month I bought two cans. First weekend fried it in a Teflon no stick pan. It never crisped up and wasn’t pleasant. The next weekend I got a black iron skillet hot and with just a little spray oil was able to crisp up the edges and made it palatable. So, I’ll keep a couple cans in the pantry. But they still sell chicken at H‑E‑B, no need to eat it again for some time.

I love SPAM and have since i was a kid, spending a few years living in Hawaii didn't help, but I have a heart condition that requires me to stay low sodium. This video below shows how to remove most of the salt with a simple boil process. My wife ,who is from the Philippines and grew up on canned meat ( a post WW2 staple) follows this method not just for me but she likes it better as well.I think it actually crisp up better after the boil..............toss in a couple fried eggs and some toast and ya got a meal fit for a king. For those concerned with the saline content hope this helps. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tjBm_0hr_94

It's "MADE" in the jar(pressure cooker) but if you had the proper equipment you can do this in a sealed can.........much like the Spam can.

Watched the video. The engineer in me says boiling anything will not remove the salt. The condensate from boiling water is pure water, the salt is left in the pot.
But even if I’m wrong, that’s still to much work for a can of spam.

Yes my friends, sleep well tonight just knowing that SPAM is 100 % animal. Nothing goes to waste. You know… like fish sticks.
