Does anyone remember the thumping app and the Settings that were posted it awhile back? I would like to try it with my speaker but I don’t know which app to get. Thank you

The music files on your phone are in MP3 format. You can download a “phone ringer” clipper app to clip out segments of the music for drum or strong base. Then you just set on loop to play the same clip over and over.

I did this about 7-8 years ago during the cold deadstick months. I cut some clips from Genesis, Phil Collins a even Michael Jackson’s “Beat it” lol. I got me a $65 bluetooth speaker from Costco and tested it out. I even placed the speaker in a zip lock bag so it would “thump” on the surface of the water behind my boat. It was fun testing it out but it didn’t work as good as manual thumping with a stick at the time.

But if you have a high end speaker with stronger bass or a bad arse subwoofer, please let me know your results. From personal experience and talking to many guide buddies we think the thumping sound/vibrations coming from the hull of the boat travel deeper and in “tune” for calling the fish. But I am open to see what your test results. Have fun testing and playing!

When Prosise originally posted about the speaker/metronome, I decided to try it out for myself. Accompanied by my wife, I launched my boat, took it out over 30', and physically dove in the water. I had my wife turn on my 12V thumper which I made myself and have been using for several years. I listened closely from about 8-9 feet below the surface while holding my breath.

I returned to the surface, had my wife turn off the thumper and turn on the Bluetooth speaker and metronome. I dove back down and listened again from the same depth.

I found that although both were audible, the thumper was much more audible. I should mentioned that I have a trowelled-on layer of non-slip "Safe-Floor" on my boat, which I'm sure dampens some sound, but, that dampening was the same for both devices.

Bottom line: I found the automatic thumper to produce a greater volume of sound which I believe penetrates the water deeper and further than the quieter noise produced by the speaker system.

Hope that helps you!

I am going to try it with the speaker in the water next week. I have a pontoon and physical thumping may not carry as good as on a regular boat.
