Hit Monticello Saturday. Had high hopes to catch a big one. Didn’t happen. Struggled to get bit all day. Started out at big bridge throwing 6 xd and swimbait.. nothing. Saw some bait, saw some fish.. but all scattered and nothing active.. Headed shallow and caught a small one on Senko to get the skunk off.

Thought for sure I’d catch more but not another bite in area so paddled to the railroad bridge.. nothing going on here either.. It was overcast and no bait or activity.. Ended up fishing far north end and back.. caught a couple of small ones.

Back to throwing 7 inch swimbait in the pads and finally catch a 3.5 which was big fish for the day. No bird activity.. only saw three commerants all day.. paddled back to big bridge and caught another one then paddled towards the park and ramp.. Caught another smalll one and decided to call it a day.. sure beat not fishing but I thought it would be so much better.. water temps 86.

I have to figure out a way to rig up a winch or something to get my heavy Native down and back up that embankment. That lake looks fun.

Its not that hard with a kayak cart to get you from parking to where you put it over the rail... just have to unload all your stuff to get kayak over the rail. It will go down real easy.. coming out unload all your stuff and you can pull kayak (even a heavy one) one step at a time. Just have some rope to make it easier to get good footing where you can pull it up a little at a time. At the pipe is where it gets tricky. Depending on where you can grab your kayak... once you have it on the guard rail, the longer the kayak the further up in the air bow will be and you may have to get behind kayak and push it over versus pulling it over... plus you have to watch out for traffic as you are in the roadway.

I saw a video of a couple guys launching from a different spot. One of which had an Old Town Ipilot Kayak and the other guy had a Pond Prowler. They came thru the weeds and launched right at the mud bank.It was the same area &they parked in the same parking spot as most of you guys. That`s why i asked is there a trail because they didn`t do the lower your yak down with a rope thing as suggested earlier. hmmm

Plenty of folks go through cut fence to launch their bigger boats and kayaks.. I'm sure they'll cry that they didn't know it was trespassing when game warden catches them.
roflmao I don't think they'll get a warning.

Those will be the people that ruin it for everyone else when you start seeing the No Trespassing signs go up on the bridge as well.
